Men with HPV, genital warts
Hi all,
i have a question for the guys who have genital warts (or you gals who might be able to answer my question)… i have hpv and my BF obviously does too. i’m currently treating my warts and as far as we know, my BF hasn’t shown any warts. BUT he says he saw something that’s been freaking him out and we’re a little concerned.
My question is, in the event that it is a wart, is treating warts for men harder than it is for women? i mean i’ve been on aldara for i think 2 weeks now? and it’s been working like a charm. but obviously the skin on the penis is much different than the skin on the vulva and i wasn’t sure if it would be as effective. do warts for men tend to be more persistent? or are the effectiveness rate about the same? This goes not just for the aldara but i guess for all wart treatment.
And my last question is, would it be OK for him to use some of my aldara? i usually dont use up the whole packet and i wasn’t sure if it would be unsafe…
thanks!
jess
I know im not a guy but i feel I shold say this. I know that its tempting to have him use some of the cream to see if it goes away but I think that the best thing is have him go in and get seen. It could be something else and the aldara might irritate him as well. Really all medications should be perscribed by your doctor. I know that is what doctors say but i have friends that are pharmacists and such and have seen really bad reactions with various people that have taken or used others scripts before. there is a vinegar test i think, someone might know more about that, you might be able to do on him and see if it is a wart as well.
Tell him to see a doctor. Like Jenny said, the Aldara could irritate him and make things worse. I am not sure about the whole “is treating warts for men harder than treating warts for women?” I would say no. A wart is a wart and I think it all comes down to the person’s immune system, what strain of hpv they have, and how severe it is. If you and your bf are having sex while you have “active” warts then you can be almost sure that it is a wart, however it could be many things. Also, some people react differently to medicines than others, male or female. A lot of people have been successful with Aldara however I had an awful reaction so my doctor may burn it off if it gets any worse. If your bf in deed does have a wart, meaning one small wart then a doctor could easily burn it off with one treatment. For one small wart it just seems more logical to burn it off as oppose to any topical treatment that you do at home. Also, the “vinegar” test is a chemical mixed in with vinegar that is spread over the genitals to “identify” gw’s however this test could easily give false positive results. The “warts” are suppossed to turn white when the liquid is on the skin. Some “natural bumps” also turn white giving the doctor the idea that you have gw’s when in all honesty it may possibly be a natural bump that could be say an in grown hair or something and treatment for gw’s can be strong, irritating and painful. So why treat someone for something they don’t have? It could in turn effect their skin in a major way. Anyways, I hope this helps and good luck to you and your bf, keep us posted!
The aldara has been shown to be more effective in women at removing warts and then also in preventing reoccurence. The statistics are in the aldara
pamphlets, I didn’t make this up. But it still works in a large amount of men. It does all depend on who you are though. I had a terrible reaction to aldara (worst itching in my life!! I had insomnia the nights I used it) but stuck it out for 4 months and all my warts are gone and have been for 4 months. I also started exercising, eating healthier, taking vitamins, drinking lots of water, etc. basically anything to boost my immune system, so that could also be why I haven’t had a reoccurance. I also tried to get rid of the things in my life that stressed me out, like taking too many classes in school.
If you have a moderate amount of warts, I would give aldara a try. I know people that had very mild reacions, in fact most people (again according to the
aldara pamphlets) had mild to moderate side effects. I think I probably had the worst experience ever with it, but those little fuckers are gone now so I guess
all in all it was a positive experience.
