don’t know if i’ll last the week till my dr appt
my boyfriend of only a few months told me tonight that he had his first outbreak nine years ago and hasn’t had one since. now he found a bump this morning; thinks it’s another outbreak. we just quit using condoms a few weeks ago, and we had unprotected sex the day before he spotted the new outbreak, so i’m pretty freaked out. he’s going to the dr for treatment next week, and i already had an appt with my gynecologist next week, so i’ll get checked, too. i’m definitely not happy with him about not telling me, at least when we stopped using condoms. but i know that it is fairly common, and i don’t want to end it with him over this, though. he was treated when he was 19, and he doesn’t seem to understand that it’s possible for him to transmit it even if he’s not having an outbreak. what really has me concerned is that everything i’ve read is saying that the potential for problems in women with HPV are higher, and i read all the time in magazines about how wit can cause tons of problems when left untreated. that’s what scares me; is it possible for this to affect my reproductive health? i already have some problems with that related to endometriosis, so my head is just going around and around right now thinking about if this could further harm my chances of having a baby one day. i’m really freaked out, i don’t know if i’m going to be able to make it till next week for my dr appt.
Ok. . first things first. . .. calm down. . .breathe. . . Like a friend of mine keeps telling me when I et worked up about having this “Hey, atleast its not AIDS.” I know this may sound horrible, but the strains of HPV that cause warts do not typically cause cervical cancer. If you need more info, go to cdc.gov/std/HPV/Provider6-2005/ApE-HPV_Brochure_Draft_FINAL.pdf This is an adobe acrobat file full of the information that the center for disease control gives to doctors.
I found it to be very helpful. It will probably answer your questions about the baby thing. Good luck.
