Burn from Aldara

I have used Aldara for about a week for my genital warts and I have experianced what seems like burns on areas of my skin that the cream wasn’t applied to, but may have touched after application. Has anyone experianced or heard of anything like this? It looks like new pink skin is starting to come back (this is three days after I noticed the “burns”, but it is very itchy. Any suggestions?

This happened to me as well. It is normal so don’t freak out. I took warm, almost cold showers to help with the burning. I actually reacted to badly that my doctor told me to stop taking it and I used baby powder and Desitin Cream with Aloe. For now, I would suggest that you only apply a very small amount of the cream on the wart and no where else, when you apply; use a tiny bit and rub it in real good. Also, don’t forget to wash it off no longer than 10 hours later.
Best of luck to you and if you have any questions please email me. Thanks.

I had the same thing happen, only I thought the “burns” were new incoming warts, so I proceeded to put aldara on all of the new “burn” areas for 4 months straight. It hurt like hell, and the only way it went away was by stopping the Aldara. Of course now I realize that the whole time it was just a reaction to the Aldara and not warts (but it did look like it). Anyway, I think the only way to make it go away is to stop the Aldara. Personally, if the Aldara is working in removing your warts, I would suffer through the burning if it is not TOO much pain, and you can handle it.

When this happened to me, I thought that I also had HSV because the red bumps were filled with clear liquid and they would bust and scab over. It burned real bad and the whole area of skin was swollen. I couldn’t get in and out of my car, walk, sit, stand, go up or down steps, basically anything that I had to use my legs for. I just laid in bed with some cold wet towels in between my legs, bawling my eyes out. The baby powder and Desitin without the Aldara helped a lot but it took about a day or two to fully heal. And once I healed the warts were no longer there.

I had the same reaction but worse. I ended up with basically third degree burns. I will never use the stuff again. And yes there was itching and a shit load of pain. Good luck.
